Fr. Luke Bids Goodbye to SLRP

On the first weekend of June, 2013, Fr. Bienvenido Luke Dobles formally bid goodbye to the parish that he served since 2007. He bade his farewells just before the final blessing in each of the six Sunday masses. At the 10AM mass, he was joined by Fr. Juan Bosco Abellana, who will take over after him. At the 6:30 PM mass, the Gospel choir rendered the song 'Kaibigan' after his farewell.

In his farewell, Fr. Luke quoted parts of Chapter 21 of 'The Little Prince': Looking at the field of roses, the little prince said, "You are not at all like my rose. As yet you are nothing. No one has tamed you, and you have tamed no one. You are like my fox when I first knew him. He was only a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But I have made him my friend, and now he is unique in all the world." To Fr. Luke, SLRP is not just a parish among hundreds or thousands of other parishes. SLRP is his parish, the parish that he shared 6 years of his life with, including all his limitations and sins, his joys and sorrows. To him it is unique in all the world.

On a happy note, Fr. Luke welcomed Fr. JB, and on behalf of the entire parish, put on him the San Lorenzo Ruiz medallion, making him a bona fide parish worker of SLRP.
