SLRP Delegates to the Convention
Last July 3 and 4, 2014, thirteen (13) delegates  from the The San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish of Tandang Sora attended the 2-day Mother Butler Guild (MBG) National Convention held at the World Trade Center. The   theme for this year’s convention was “The MBG… called to be saints… sent forth as servants”.  More than 6,000 delegates  from different MBG chapters nationwide participated this year.

The first day started with a Eucharistic Celebration presided by the Most Rev. Angel N. Lagdameo, Archbishop of Jaro, Iloilo and MBG National Spiritual Director. His homily centered on Servant Leadership and he enumerated the following qualities of a Servant Leader:
1. relinquishes right to control,
2. sees servanthood as an end, not the means to an end.
It is not a tool to manipulate people,
3. reluctant draftee…convinced to lead,
4. Found in the doggedness places… listens to people’s problems,
5. exemplifies love and caring,
6. demonstrates obedience,
7. partners in service,
8. always dirties his hands and shoulders in service, and
9. a mirror of God.

The keynote address was given by Msgr. Gerry Santos, Commissioner on Catechesis and Catholic Education, Archdiocese of Manila, whose talk dealt  on three words that an MBG member should know: 1. Consecration, 2. Communion, and 3. Commission.

The Launching of the MBG Formation Book One was done during the first day.

On the second day, the major activities were the Renewal of Commitment of all MBG members  and the  formalization of the amendments to the MBG Constitution and By-Laws.  There was also a festival of dances from various regions.

It was during the convention that the first announcement was made by our former Ambassador to the Vatican, Henrietta de Villa, on the visit of  Pope Francis to the Philippines this coming January 2015.
